Aqua and Purifica

We wish to inform you of a recent situation, in the spirit of transparency and care toward you.

 

Following a small number of client reports, we observed that some more sensitive skin types may have reacted to the Purifica Foaming Cleanser and the Aqua Mask from the batches listed below.

 

After investigation, these reactions appear to be linked to a variation in the origin

of a sub-ingredient that was added by one of our suppliers.

A sodium benzoate + alcohol system was used as a new preservative in one of the sub-ingredients we incorporated, without our prior knowledge, despite compliance with the usual standards and specifications.

This preservative system is:

• Recognised as safe by Health Canada, the FDA, and the EU (but not approved by the Dermonaturopath)

• Widely used in cosmetic, facial care, shampoos, and natural products

• Stable, effective, and low-cost

• ​

However, some individuals may develop:

• Mild skin reactions (redness, sensation of warmth)

• Irritation in reactive or sensitive skin

• Local intolerance, particularly if the skin is already inflamed

 

It is not considered a major dermatological allergen; however, on fragile,

eczematous, or compromised skin, it may trigger a reaction.

It is important to note that:

• These reactions remain infrequent;

• The products remain compliant and safe according to current regulatory standards;

• The reactions observed are reversible and comparable to what some sensitive skin types may occasionally experience with other products.

 

As a precautionary measure, we immediately initiated an internal review and strengthened our controls to ensure that this situation does not recur.

If you have noticed any unusual sensitivity, we simply recommend discontinuing use of the product and informing us so that we may provide appropriate support.
